Everything you need to know about the adoption queue
Once you join the queue by selecting your preferred pet type and entering your details, you're placed in our matching system. When a cat or dog that fits your profile becomes available at one of our partner shelters, you'll receive an email or call — in queue order — giving you first opportunity to arrange a meet-and-greet.
Matching times vary depending on your location and pet preferences. On average, most adopters are matched within 2–6 weeks. Cats tend to move quickly, while specific dog breeds may take a little longer. We always keep you updated on your queue position.
After we contact you about a match, we arrange a meet-and-greet at the shelter or foster home. If it's a great fit, the shelter will complete a short adoption application (usually a home assessment and reference check). Adoption fees vary by shelter but typically cover vaccinations, neutering, and microchipping. We guide you every step of the way.
No worries! You stay in the queue and we continue searching. You can also update your preferences at any time by replying to our confirmation email. We'd rather wait and find you the perfect match than rush a pairing that isn't right for you or the pet.
